Background and Objective

 

The  ACI Asia-Pacific 2011 Green Airports Recognition is a new initiative of the ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Office as approved by the Regional Board in 2010.

 

The objective of the ACI Asia-Pacific Green Airports Recognition is to promote environmental best practices to minimize aviation’s impact on the environment and to recognize ACI airports members who have outstanding accomplishments in their environmental projects.

 

This award is the first-of-its-kind in the Asia-Pacific region.  By participating in this campaign, you have the opportunity to share your airports’ environmental projects with the other airports in the region and also have the chance to be awarded for your outstanding achievements.

 

Award-winning airports will be invited to attend the award presentation ceremony at the 7th ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly in May 2012 in Singapore.

Award Categories 

 

Platinum, gold and silver awards will be given to the top 3 scorers based on the above criteria.  Airport with outstanding achievement in each of the 5 criteria may be considered for special awards for that particular area.

 

 

Panel of Judges

 

The panel consists of members of the ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Environment Liaison Group and other experts in environmental management.

  • Mr. Gap-Cheol Park, Manager, Environment, Korea Airports Corporation / Chair of ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Environment Liaison Group

 

  • Mr. Xavier Oh, Senior Manager Environment and ICAO Liaison, ACI World

 

  • Mrs. Patti Chau, Regional Director, ACI Asia-Pacific

 

How to apply (Application closed on January 16, 2012)

 

Any ACI Asia-Pacific airport members in good standing (with 2011 membership certificates) are eligible to apply.  Interested airport can apply by filling out the application form and attaching a report on an airport environmental project that has been IMPLEMENTED in the past five years (2007 – 2011).  Each airport member should submit ONE paper and on ONE project ONLY.   

  

 

Results

 

Airports recognized with distinguished achievement are the airports with the highest overall scores:

  • Distinguished Achievement in Platinum - Changi Airport
  • Distinguished Achievement in Gold - Hong Kong International Airport
  • Distinguished Achievement in Silver - Korea Airports Corporation 

 

The next three airports on the score board are also recognised for their outstanding achievements. Green Airports Recognition - Outstanding Achievements:

  • Alice Springs Airport (Northern Territory Airports)
  • Incheon International Airport
  • Kansai International Airport
