AAHK Releases Sustainability Report 2023/24

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) today released its Sustainability Report 2023/24, outlining the sustainability performance of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) in the fiscal year ending 31 March 2024.

 

This year, AAHK introduced a strategic framework - Ascend, focusing on 24 strategic goals across four sustainability pillars, including Environmental Excellence, Operational Excellence, Thriving Economies and Societies, and Thriving People.

 

Highlights of this year’s Sustainability Report include: 

AAHK was recognised as a "2024 Top-Rated ESG Performer" by Sustainalytics, a well-established rating company.


HKIA was the first airport in the world to deploy the award-winning Digital Apron together with Tower Management System (DATMS) for airport operations.


AAHK launched a Renewable Diesel (RD) pilot programme, making HKIA the first Asian airport to use RD in ground services equipment.


Two of HKIA’s aviation fuel facilities have obtained the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification: Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (ISCC CORSIA) certification for Sustainable Aviation Fuels handling.


AAHK has expanded the fleet of autonomous vehicles by introducing Hong Kong’s first passenger-carrying autonomous shuttle bus services for airport staff.


HKIA became the first airport community in the world to achieve the full suite of International Air Transport Association’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (IATA CEIV) partner airport accreditations, further affirming HKIA’s leadership in air cargo.


The SkyPier Terminal and “Fly-Via-Zhuhai-HK" passenger transfer service commenced operation, attracting passengers to and from the Greater Bay Area and reinforcing HKIA’s competitiveness in the region. 
A new Corporate Social Policy Statement was launched to guide AAHK’s efforts to enhance its welcoming and supportive working environment that is open to employees of all backgrounds.


AAHK continued to attract and retain talent through job fairs, career development programmes and employee well-being initiatives.


Since 2021/22, AAHK has formally aligned our sustainability strategy with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, we expanded our commitment to include an additional SDG – 14 (Life Below Water).
