Cambodia’s Three International Airports Hit Record High 10 Million Passengers

  • 19 Dec 2018

Cambodia Airports has opened a new chapter of its history as the 3 airports that it develops and operates have crossed for the first time the 10-million passengers mark. The figure is obtained by combining all international and domestic passengers arriving to and departing from Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville international airports.

To mark the landmark event, festivities were held all day long at the 3 airports and gathered the airport stakeholders. Eric Delobel, Chief Executive of Cambodia Airports, stressed: “Today’s celebrations evolve around the airport community as we want to engage all our partners and to associate them with the achievement.”

Hardly one year ago to the day, the network of international airports broke the 8-million passengers mark. The new milestone validates the continuous momentum of the last 5 years and the fruitful partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia and all stakeholders.

Overall, solid traffic at the airports reflects tourism growth in Cambodia, especially driven by the new attractiveness of the country’s coastal areas, and a buoyant economy conducive to business opportunities.

Éric Delobel said: “Connectivity and synergies between the 3 airports have significantly contributed to bringing in more and more passengers to the Kingdom. Passengers traffic has doubled over the last 5 years and reached this record-high 10 million passengers. On a global level, we also take advantage of being part of the worldwide network of airports managed by VINCI Airports, our parent company. The business model that VINCI Airports has developed for Cambodia’s airport system has proved relevant and I am confident that it will guide us for future successes.”
