Airport Authority Implements Multiple Measures to Ease Arriving Passengers

  • 2024-06-17

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has implemented multiple measures to ease passengers arriving in Hong Kong today, and airport operation remained generally smooth.

The airport’s Automated People Mover system and customer service counters will extend operating hours. Airlines will assign more staff to assist travellers, while cleaning contractors and baggage trolley operators will also increase their manpower.

AAHK has contacted various public transport service providers on stepping up public transport services between the airport and city. The Airport Express Link will increase frequency after midnight, while Citybus and Long Win Bus will also increase their services.

Flight operation on the North Runway had been suspended for a period of time today after a freighter suffered from a tyre burst and hydraulic system failure upon landing. Of the 932 flights handled at the airport from 0700hrs to 2359hrs on Monday, about 450 passenger flights were delayed. It is estimated that the delayed flights will be eased in the early hours on Tuesday morning.
