Narita becomes First in Asia-Pacific to Acquire International Accreditation for Airport Management of Infections

At Narita Airport, while continuing to take measures against infectious diseases, we are promoting various initiatives in anticipation of a recovery in air travel demand from the COVID-19 pandemic.


In recognition of this, Narita Airport has become the first in the Asia-Pacific region* to acquire certification under the Public Health & Safety Readiness Accreditation (PHSR) Program conducted by the Airports Council International (ACI) on 11 January 2023. (5th acquisition in the world). 

 

This program objectively evaluates the business continuity in the event of pandemics. A total of 56 items based on the guidelines and recommendations drawn up by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) were confirmed. Main items are infection control measures, risk management implementation systems, cooperation with government agencies and airlines, and efforts to resume the airport operation.

 

In the New Normal era, Narita Airport will continue to announce our infection measures that effects future pandemic and our response to the recovery of air travel demand from the COVID-19 pandemic in accordance with international standards, and we will promote initiatives so that many customers can use our services with peace of mind.

    (expansion of self-service check-in procedures to reduce contact opportunities, etc.)
  • Strengthening cooperation with stakeholders in anticipation of demand recovery
    (securing a service supply system, coexistence of boarder control measures and congestion mitigation, etc.)
  • Formulation and brush-up of business continuity plan (BCP), etc
