Perth Airport and Singapore Airlines Celebrate 55 Years of Flights to Perth

  • 2022-04-05

On 5 April 1967, under the Malaysia-Singapore Airlines brand, Singapore Airlines operated its inaugural flight to Perth on a Boeing 707-320 before continuing on its journey to Sydney.

Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown said that Singapore Airlines and Perth Airport have maintained a strong partnership for 55 years.

“And over the past two years, this became even more apparent as Singapore Airlines maintained its connectivity to Perth.

“Despite grounding 96 per cent of its global capacity, Singapore Airlines continued to operate weekly services to Perth to bring Australians home while carrying important export and import freight throughout the pandemic.

“These actions show the airline’s strong commitment to Western Australia.

“In February 2020, Singapore Airlines had announced that it would add a fifth daily service between Perth and Singapore, so we look forward to working with the airline to rebuild its capacity as we recover from the global pandemic.

“Perth Airport will continue to work with our airline partners and the State Government to increase services to Perth as international airline connectivity is crucial for the tourism, business, and education sectors recovery.

Currently, ingapore Airlines operates three flights every day between Perth and Singapore with either an A350-900 Medium Haul or a B787-10 aircraft.
