This week, the global community of airport innovators, start-ups, visionary thinkers, researchers and top tech minds gathers at Rome Fiumicino Airport for AIRPORTS INNOVATE 2024. The conference, organised jointly by ACI EUROPE, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East and ACI World, and hosted by Aeroporti di Roma, will chart the future of air travel, pooling innovative solutions, groundbreaking tools and know-how from across the globe.
The delegation is a key recommendation from the 2022 Hunter Global Summit held in February, which focused on ways to leverage Newcastle Airport’s impending long distance international capability from a whole of region economic perspective. Airport CEO Dr Peter Cock said the visit is a significant opportunity for regional leaders from across key industries and organisations in the Hunter to demonstrate strong and unified support from the region.
Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) is investing in future jobs by kicking off stage two of its Airport Industrial Park. The construction phase will generate 440+ positions. Once completed, the Stage 2 precinct will be home to 1400+ direct jobs and thousands more indirect positions.

A state-of-the-art 3D printing facility is now operational at the Airport City that is being developed in the BLR Airport premises. The Peekay Group in partnership with Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL) inaugurated this first-of-its-kind facility, that focuses on engineering, design and collaboration.
According to Airport International Group statistics, Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) welcomed 3,248,467 passengers (PAX) during the first half of 2022 - 21.7% lower than the same period in 2019. QAIA also registered 31,547 aircraft movements (ACM) and 29,148 tons of cargo - representing 17.0% and 40.5% declines, respectively, compared with H1 2019. Meanwhile, during the month of June, QAIA handled 711,983 PAX, 6,211 ACM and 5,673 tons of cargo - marking decreases of 14.9%, 17.1% and 30.1%, respectively, as opposed to June 2019.
Malaysia operations recorded more than 6 times increase in the first half of 2022 for total passenger movements when compared to the same period in 2021. From January to June 2022, Malaysia Airports registered a total of 20.25 million passengers through its network of airports nationwide. The active resumption of foreign carriers and international routes contributed to the encouraging performance.
Macau International Airport (MIA) has successfully upgraded the Airport Customer Experience Accreditation (ACE) to Level 2, as awarded by Airport Council International (ACI) on 12th July 2022, which affirmed the effort of Macau International Airport on enhancing quality of customer experience.
