Airports Council International (ACI) Asia Pacific has forecasted that the region will record 62 per cent of air traffic recovery in 2022 compared to 2019 traffic of 3.4 billion passengers.
Rekib Ahmed, an Environmental expert from Delhi International Airport Limited, winner of the ACI Asia-Pacific Young Executive Award (YEA) 2022. Launched in 2009 by ACI Asia-Pacific, the Young Executive Award programme encourages promulgation of innovative ideas and best practices from young professionals among Asia-Pacific and the Middle East airport community. This year’s paper addressed the theme “Adapting Airports to a Changing Climate in the Region”. Ahmed demonstrated exceptional research, analysis and appropriate interventions in his submission, contributing to the aviation sector in becoming a more sustainable and resilient mode of transportation.
ACI Asia-Pacific Director General Stefano Baronci participated in the Conference on International Air Transport Cooperation 2022’s high-level session themed “Air Transport - Restarting Global Aviation” in Seoul, Republic of Korea on the side lines of the 57th ICAO Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation, Asia and Pacific Regions.
Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific has called for flexible regulatory policies, innovative procedures, greater efficiency and a better passenger experience as part of its long-term approach to help airports make a sustainable recovery.
Despite considering the Government of Japan’s decision to remove border measures imposed in the Country in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as a positive step, ACI Asia-Pacific recommends the Government for a complete removal of international air travel restrictions, indicating that the industry cannot fully recover amid curbs.
