The topic of rising airfare trends was one of the focal points of discussions among airport leaders during the Board Meeting of the Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), hosted by Cambodia Airports, in Phnom Penh.
Dubai Airports has upped again its annual forecast for passenger traffic at Dubai International (DXB) to 64.3 million following a strong performance by the hub in the third quarter, and the prospects of a stronger surge in the offing in the final three months of 2022.
Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) today announced the air traffic figures of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) for October 2022. During the month, passenger throughput at HKIA reached 755,000, representing a surge of 447.9% over the same period last year. Passenger volume in October 2022 returned to around 13% of pre-pandemic levels. Cargo throughput and flight movements declined year on year by 23.9% and 10.2% to 351,000 tonnes and 12,575, respectively.
Airport International Group announced that, during the first 10 months of 2022, Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) received 6,557,424 passengers (PAX), registering a 81.15% increase and 14.13% decline against 2021 and 2019 figures, respectively. QAIA also witnessed 57,389 aircraft movements (ACM), 56.45% more and 15.37% less than the figures recorded during the same periods in 2021 and 2019, respectively. As for year-to-date cargo figures, QAIA handled 51,283 tons, marking a 6.73% rise and 40.03% drop compared with 2021 and 2019 figures, respectively.
Aviation sector in India is on a rebound with all Covid protocols in place and Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) is no exception. Sharjah Airport welcomed the inaugural flight of Nile Air, the largest private airline in Egypt, which flew in from Cairo International Airport. The carrier will operate two flights a week between Sharjah and Cairo on Friday and Sunday.
