Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), an association representing 624 airports, delivered two important presentations at the ICAO Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for Middle East region in Riyadh, highlighting the critical need for enhancing air connectivity and seamlessly integrating Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) into the current air transportation framework.
Sharjah Airport Authority, in partnership with Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation Park (SRTI Park) and multinational corporation Huawei, concluded the Promising Generations initiative and celebrated the graduation of the first batch of university students who assisted in devising creative solutions to challenges faced by the airport, leveraging their knowledge and creative concepts. The event was held at SRTI Park headquarters coinciding with the UAE’s Innovation Month, ‘UAE Innovates 2023.’
The Route Development Forum for Asia (Routes Asia 2023) took place at Chiang Mai, Thailand during 14th to 16th February 2023. Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) today announced the air traffic figures of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) for January 2023. During the month, passenger throughput at HKIA registered around 2.1 million, marking a year-on-year surge of around 28 times. HKIA handled over 80,000 passengers daily at peak, representing around 40% of pre-pandemic levels. Flight movements saw a year-on-year increase of 34.9% to 16,215, while cargo throughput dropped 26.4% to 288,000 tonnes compared to the same month last year.

According to Airport International Group, Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) welcomed 676,628 passengers (PAX) during January - marking a 70.9% surge against 2022 figures. Moreover, QAIA recorded 6,020 aircraft movements (ACM) - indicating a 30.0% increase compared with 2022 figures. QAIA also handled 4,760 tons of cargo, 17.6% higher than figures registered in 2022.
