1,547.5 weekly international scheduled flights for winter 2024

Kansai Airports is delighted to announce that the number of international scheduled flights per week during the peak in March for winter 2024 is expected to be 1,547.5*1, comparable to the winter 
2019 level, which was the highest number ever for the winter schedule. Of these weekly international flights, 1,353 are passenger flights, 96% of the 2019 level, and 194.5 are cargo flights, the second highest ever in the winter schedule. This increase is led by a steady recovery in flights bound for China and Southeast Asia, as well as the expansion of network for South Korea. 

 

Major new routes for international passenger flights for Winter 2024 will be as follows: 
China 

  • Tianjin Airlines (GS) launches three weekly flights for Guiyang from November 20. 
  • China Eastern Airlines (MU) launches seven weekly flights for Wuhan. 
  • Shenzhen Airlines (ZH) resumes seven weekly flights for Nantong. 
  • Spring Airlines (9C) resumes seven weekly flights for Lanzhou. 
  • Qingdao Airlines (QW), the new carrier who launched Qingdao route in Summer 2024 as non-scheduled flights, increases the flights from three to four and operates as scheduled flights. 

 

Korea 

  • Jin Air (LJ) launches seven weekly flights for Muan. 

 

Southeast Asia 

  • Peach (MM) launches seven weekly flights for Singapore from December 4. 
  • Philippine Airlines (PR) resumes four weekly flights for Cebu. 

Following summer 2024, the six regions - South Korea, Hong Kong and Macau, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Middle East and North America - are expected to have the same or higher number of flights compared to the 2019 levels: 366 weekly flights to South Korea*2, 158% of the 2019 level; 126 to Hong Kong and Macau, 101% of the 2019 level; 133 to Taiwan, 99% of the 2019 level; 191 to Southeast Asia, 96% of the 2019 level; 17 to Middle East, 243% of the 2019 level; and 12 to North America, 100% of the 2019 level. Additionally, flights to China are showing a significant recovery, with an increase of 65 weekly flights from the peak in summer 2024, totaling 456 flights, 76% of the 2019 level. 

 

The number of international LCC flights will be 588 per week, representing 43% of the total international services and exceeding the 2019 winter actual results (459 at peak).  In terms of domestic passenger flights, the total number of flights per day at the three airports will be 287, equivalent to the 2019 summer level (291 at peak).
