A New Record Marked at Shanghai Airports

Shanghai Airports witnessed a new record high of one-day traffic both in aircraft movement and passenger throughput on August 11, 2024. The two airports in Shanghai accommodated totally 2,386 flights on one single day while Pudong International Airport handled 1,597 flights and Hongqiao International Airport 789 flights. The passenger traffic also marked a peak of 397,000 persons in a day with 254,000 at Pudong Airport and 143,000 at Hongqiao Airport. 

 

Since this year’s summer travel season began, the aircraft movement and passenger volume of two airports in Shanghai have been keeping on going up with the contributions of tourist traffic and student flow. From July 1 to August 11, there was a total of 96,000 flights accommodated, of which 65,000 flights at Pudong International Airport and 31,000 at Hongqiao International Airport, reaching a year-on-year growth of 10.1%. The total passenger volume of this period was 15.34 million persons with 9.74 million at Pudong International Airport and 5.6 million at Hongqiao International Airport, an increase of 18.2% year-on year. 

 

In view of the characteristics of summer travel flow, the two airports in Shanghai continue to optimize service products and improve service quality to provide passengers with a wonderful travel experience. The one-stop international service centers at both Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport were opened to maximize conveniences for international travelers through offering payment services, cultural and tourism information, telecommunications support, and transportation assistance.

 

During the two-month summer travel season, a series of activities featuring the cultural brand of Shanghai Airport Authority, CHINA YOUNG, are also launched to promote culture, retail, and passenger services of the two airports.
