ACI APEX Review conducted in Maldives for Security Enhancement
- 2024-10-28
An Airport Excellence Programme (APEX) in Security review was successfully conducted at Velana International Airport (MLE) in Male, Maldives from 20-24 October 2024, hosted by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). It was the first ever APEX in Security review conducted in the country.
Representing ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, Mr. Gary Leung, Senior Manager, Security and Facilitation, was part of the review team to share insights and offer recommendations to help the airport enhance security compliance and efficiency.
Other team members and observers consisted of security experts from Changi Airport, Salalah Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, Narita Airport, and the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC).
Launched in 2017, APEX in Security is a peer-to-peer assessment that aims to help airports improve compliance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and increase adoption of international best practices. Over 45 APEX in Security reviews have already been conducted globally so far.
