  • 2023-10-09

ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East hosted an environmental webinar entitled "Climate Change Adaptation Webinar on the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD)" on the 26 September 2023. The objective was to build a better understanding of the TCFD recommendations and reporting practices with our airport members from across the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions.

The speakers raised awareness of the TCFD framework, and shared how airports can address disclosure requirements, highlighting the benefits and challenges. The webinar was a success. It was well-attended, with over 60 airports members from our regions.

At the webinar, Kristy Tan, Senior Manager, Climate Resilience of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), as well as the leader of the Climate Change Adaptation Working Group under the ACI APAC & MID Regional Environmental Committee, shared reasons to report against TCFD, and key aspects reported by AAHK, including current challenges.

Moreover, Wendy Weir, Senior Manager, Sustainability, Sydney Airport, shared Sydney Airport’s experience with the evolution of TCFD reporting and its benefits at the airport. We thank Cindy Varnier, AECOM Principal Consultant, Sustainability & Resilience Brisbane, Australia for sharing the latest guidance on each key area under the TCFD framework.

We extend our special gratitude to Hong Kong International Airport & Sydney Airport for sharing their insights.
