ACI APAC & MID Highlights Security Challenges and Priorities for Airports

ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, representing 624 airports from across 47 countries and territories, highlighted the need to address common security challenges and priorities at the ICN Global Aviation Security Seminar in Incheon, Republic of Korea. Representing ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, Mr. Gary Leung, Senior Manager for Security, addressed the pressing issues such as manpower shortages, emerging security threats, and the implementation of smart security technologies at airports.
The seminar, hosted by Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), saw participation from over 150 aviation security experts and officials, including key representatives from local government agencies, academic institutions, and airlines.
Among the prominent attendees were Mr. Hag Jae Lee, President of IIAC, and Mr. Sang-il Lee, Airport Policy Director at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Both leaders delivered opening remarks, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aviation security. In addition, the event brought together global aviation security experts from major hubs such as Changi Airport, Narita Airport, Schiphol Airport, and Hong Kong Airport. These guest speakers contributed to the dialogue, exploring future trends in aviation security development.
The seminar ended with a panel discussion, with speakers sharing insights on the future trends of aviation security development and ways in addressing current challenges in operations.
