Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and Fukuoka International Airport Co., Ltd. (FIAC) Signs Sister Airport Agreement

Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and Fukuoka International Airport Co., Ltd. (FIAC) have signed a Sister Airport Agreement (SAA) to establish friendly ties as strategic partners, improve products for stakeholders, and contribute to mutual sustainable development.

Specifically, the two airport operators have decided to prioritize cooperation in the areas of traffic development and joint aviation marketing.

This is the first SAA for FIAC, and the first SAA with a focus on traffic development for ACV.

Under this agreement, ACV and FIAC will collaborate to rejuvenate bilateral tourism and business flows, speed up the resumption of scheduled flights between Vietnam and Fukuoka, and foster the development of more new direct flights between airports operated by ACV and Fukuoka Airport.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Phuong, Executive Vice President - In charge of Business and Market development of ACV stated, “ACV is honored to sign a sister airport agreement with FIAC. This is a new beginning while we are experiencing a gradual return to life after the pandemic, and Vietnam officially opens its sky to the world. I believe that the cooperation between ACV and FIAC will significantly increase the air traffic volume between Vietnam and Japan. In addition, ACV will always support FIAC to promote new routes to Vietnam’s leisure and business destinations.”

Mr. Teo Chin Leong, Chief Commercial Officer (Aero) of FIAC, said, “Vietnam is a key market for Fukuoka, with more than 180,000 Origin-Destination passengers between Fukuoka and Vietnam in 2019. This SAA with ACV is timely given that border regulations in Asia, including those in Vietnam and Japan, are starting to ease. We are delighted to partner with ACV to play a proactive role in speeding up the resumption of flights and passengers between Vietnam and Fukuoka.”

As the first initiative under this SAA, ACV and FIAC will jointly visit and engage the senior management teams of Vietnamese carriers in the coming days, on starting and resuming flights to Fukuoka.
