Airports Council Welcomes Lifting of Test Requirements for Entering the U.S.

  • 2022-06-10

Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) President and CEO Kevin M. Burke today issued the following statement welcoming the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) decision to lift the requirement for travelers to test negative for COVID-19 before entering the United States.

“Today’s announcement by the CDC is a welcome step forward for our industry following an extended period of depressed international air travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ACI-NA has long called for the U.S. government to implement a plan to safely reopen our borders to international passenger traffic and has worked with policymakers and our industry partners to make that happen. Lifting the negative-test requirement for passengers beginning June 12 will be instrumental to economic recovery across the aviation industry. We appreciate the administration’s commitment to addressing the complex challenges we’ve all faced in recent years, and we look forward to continued collaboration to ensure that airports can continue serving as economic drivers for their local communities while maintaining the health and safety of the traveling public.”
