Bonza is Back With New Townsville Airport Connection

Townsville Airport has welcomed an additional service to its network with the first passengers onboard Bonza’s new Toowoomba Wellcamp to Townsville route touching down this afternoon.

The service will operate twice weekly on Sundays and Wednesdays with fares starting at $69 one way, adding to Bonza’s existing Sunshine Coast and Rockhampton connections through Townsville Airport.

Townsville Airport’s General Manager Brendan Cook said the new Toowoomba Wellcamp connection service will provide more options for passengers looking to connect with loved ones.

“This new Bonza service re-establishes what has previously been a strong aviation link for Townsville Airport, with more than 20,000 passengers travelling on this route over the past 3 years,” Mr Cook said.

“Bonza’s existing services through Townsville Airport have proven to be very popular since launching earlier this year, and we know the community will be pleased to see Bonza providing more options to connect with friends and family,” he said.

“In just one and a half months, we’ve already seen thousands of passengers utilising Bonza’s new connections through Townsville Airport, with the Sunshine Coast – Townsville route one of the busiest routes on Bonza’s network.” he said.

Joining the first passengers onboard the inaugural Toowoomba Wellcamp to Townsville service was Bonza CEO Tim Jordan.

“We’re delighted to launch this new route, which will link Toowoomba and Townsville directly providing a timely boost to both regions’ tourism economy. Why experience a really long drive or fly via a capital city when you can now fly direct with Bonza to explore North Queensland and Southern Queensland Country,” Mr Jordan said.

“Both destinations offer unique attractions and experiences, from the natural landscapes of the Great Barrier Reef and Magnetic Island to the rich culture and history of Toowoomba’s parks, gardens and museums.”

“The response from Townsville travellers has been overwhelmingly positive and we are humbled to be reuniting families and friends like never before,” added Jordan. Bonza’s three routes to Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton and Toowoomba boost Townsville Airport’s network by 171,000 seats a year.
