CAM Held Annual General Assembly Ordinary Meeting (2025)

  • 2025-03-31

Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) successfully convened its Annual General Assembly Ordinary Meeting on 31st March 2025, approving the 2024 Annual Report, Financial Accounts, Supervisory Committee Report and Proposal of Profit Appropriation. In addition, it was resolved to increase the Company’s capital in view of the needs of Macau International Airport reclamation and expansion project. Another resolution on the “Runway Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project” was also approved as the Company agreed to conduct runway reinforcement and overlay works in segments during nighttime construction halts for the reclamation and expansion project. This approach, coupled with prior coordination with airlines on flight schedules, aims to ensure uninterrupted airport operations.

In 2024, Macau International Airport (MIA) welcomed over 7.6 million passengers and handled nearly 60,000 flight movements, both representing a year-on-year increase of over 40%. MIA managed to reach cargo volume of 108,000 tonnes, a surge of nearly 70% compared to the previous year. The Company’s total annual revenue amounted to MOP 1.478 billion, a 24% year-on-year growth with pre-tax profit reaching MOP 383 million, the highest post-pandemic figure. This achievement stemmed from dual growth in aeronautical and non-aeronautical sectors, underpinned by rigorous cost controls, efficient operational management, prudent cash flow practices, and the dedication of the CAM team.

To address the current funding requirements for the reclamation and expansion project, it has been decided at the Annual General Assembly Ordinary Meeting that new ordinary shares will be issued in 2025 to increase the Company’s capital by 500 million patacas, laying a solid foundation for the airport’s long-term development.

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the global air passenger traffic is projected to reach 5.2 billion in 2025, with the Asia-Pacific region remaining the world’s largest aviation market. Chinese travellers are expected to account for over 40% of this total. Meanwhile, the mobility potential of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), home to 120 million residents, continues to grow. Macau International Airport is actively preparing to establish airport service centers at Zhongshan Port, Shekou Port, and Gongbei Port, extending its reach to core transportation hubs on the western bank of the Pearl River Estuary. Leveraging its proven “pre-check-in and cross-border shuttle” model, CAM aims to streamline passenger boarding processes, alleviate congestion at traditional borders, and enhance the role of MIA as a regional transit hub. Upon its completion, the Taipa Ferry Terminal Heliport will integrate seamlessly with Macau International Airport, enabling air-sea intermodal connectivity and strengthening the GBA’s multidimensional transportation network. The open tender process for the Hengqin Upstream Cargo Terminal Project has been finalized, with construction slated to commence in the second quarter of 2025.

This project will establish a cross-border logistics corridor between Macau and Hengqin, fostering industrial collaboration within the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

Amidst the global aviation industry’s recovery, the deepening integration of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) has generated synergistic effects. Macau International Airport is driving growth through dual engines: infrastructure expansion and service optimization, contributing to the reinforcement of Macau’s strategic positioning as “One Centre, One Platform, One Base”. By developing an “Airport + Port” composite hub system, which includes the Hengqin Upstream Cargo Terminal and air-sea intermodal networks, this framework not only provides aviation support for Macau’s development as a “World Center of Tourism and Leisure”, but also facilitates the formation of a highly efficient, interconnected aviation ecosystem across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau by expanding the regional service network.
