Kansai Airports: KIX / ITAMI / KOBE Traffic Report for July 2023

The number of passengers at Kansai International Airport exceeded 2 million per month (76% of 2019) for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic (since February 2020).

International passenger traffic remained strong, with non-Japanese passenger traffic at 78% of 2019, while Japanese passenger traffic also recovered to 49% of 2019 from 40% in the previous month, bringing overall passenger traffic back to 70% of 2019.

Domestic passenger traffic for the three airports combined remains steady at 91% of 2019.International cargo traffic was lower than the previous year, both in number of aircraft movements and international cargo volume.
