Earthquake & tsunami drill to be held at ITAMI

Kansai Airports is delighted to announce an earthquake and tsunami drill at Osaka International Airport (ITAMI) on November 28, 2024. 

 

This drill is to raise the disaster awareness and improve the disaster response capability of airport employees by checking appropriate initial responses in the event of an earthquake, in cooperation with related organizations, based on Kansai Airports' Earthquake & Tsunami BCP, under the scenario that a Nankai Trough mega-earthquake (with the seismic intensity of 6-lower) occurs during the daytime on a weekday. 

 

Kansai Airports Group will continue to conduct various drills and exercises for safety and security of customers’ travel and their time at the airports.

 

Date/Time:  Thursday, November 28, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. 
Location:   1. Terminal building of Osaka International Airport, including the restricted area 
2. Below Osaka International Airport Station (Osaka Monorail) 

 

Organizers:  ITAMI Terminal Fire & Disaster Management Association  
ITAMI Joint Crisis Management Group 

 

Participants: 87 organizations 
(including ITAMI Terminal Fire & Disaster Management Association, Kansai Airports, Kansai Airports Operation Services) 

 

Scenario: A Nankai Trough mega-earthquake during the daytime of a weekday  (Japanese seismic intensity of 6-lower) 
Program: 1. Communication  2. Shakeout exercise  3. Evacuation guidance 
4. Assistance of the physically-challenged  5. Multilingual response training
