Macau International Airport Handled 29,000 Passengers During 2022 Chinese New Year Holiday

During the Chinese New Year holiday of 2022, Macau International Airport (MIA) recorded over 29,000 passenger traffic from Chinese New Year Eve to the fifth day of Chinese New Year (31st January 2022 to 5th February 2022). There was an increase of 208% in passenger traffic compared to the same period of last year, and approximately 16% in passenger traffic was resumed as of 2019. There were over 270 flights, an increase of 75% compared to the same period of last year. 

All MIA entities earnestly carried out pandemic prevention work and airport operation during Chinese New Year holiday, strictly safeguard safe airport operation and the pandemic prevention gateway, at the same time follow the principle of "Safety, Efficiency and Effectiveness", and ensured safe and smooth transportation during the holiday.

 

The airport continues to implement "Guarding against imported cases and preventing a resurgence of the outbreak at home" pandemic prevention strategy.  Closed-loop area, NAT sampling point were arranged, disinfection work has been done continuously, venue codes at all locations were pasted, including temperature checking points at airport entrances.

 

In accordance with the pandemic prevention measure requirements of the SAR government and destinations, staff have been arranged to check the Macau health code, review travel documents and pre-check entry QR codes of destinations, and have reminded passengers to take good personal protection during travel, including keeping a social distance of one meter, wearing masks properly, etc.

 

During the holiday, MIA cooperated with the requirements of airlines and the flight booking situation, arranged corresponding quantity of check-in counters, monitored site situation in real time to make dynamic adjustment and arranged people flow. Passengers were in good order at the airport during the pandemic prevention period. They showed understanding and were cooperative with the pandemic prevention measures and the check-in and boarding procedures that needed to be adjusted.
