Macau International Airport Handled Over 76,000 Passengers During Spring Festival Representing a Surge of 80% Compared With the Same Period Last Year

With the pandemic border restrictions loosened, the visitor arrivals surged significantly. During the Spring Festival Golden Week from 22nd to 29th Januay 2023 (1st to 8th day of Lunar Year), Macau International Airport welcomed over 76,000 passengers, representing a surge of 80% compared with the same period last year. Flight movements increased by 47% year-on-year to 620.
In January, there are 20 routes connecting Macau to the Mainland destinations, including: Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Changzhou, Chongqing, Fuzhou, Nanjing, Nanning, Ningbo, Nantong, Qingdao, Taiyuan, Tianjin, Wenzhou, Wuhan, Wuxi, Xiamen, Yiwu, Zhengzhou, etc. Other destinations include: China Taipei, Southeast Asia include: Bangkok, Singapore, Seoul, Hanoi and Tokyo.
There are 11 airlines operating in January, including: Air Macau, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, Juneyao Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Spring Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Starlux Airlines, EVA Air and Scoot Airlines. Other airlines, including: China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Air Asia and Philippine Airlines will resume operations in the Mainland and Southeast Asia very soon.
To enrich the seasonal atmosphere, MIA arranged a series of CNY themed activities at the terminal; including God of Fortune blessings, distributing good fortune bags, singing and musical instruments performance at the airport, and etc., adding to the joyful festive spirit at MIA.
