MIA Traffic Volume Prosperous During Summer Holiday Upgrade Project at the Departure Level

During the summer holiday (July – August) in 2024, Macau International Airport handled 1.47 million passengers and 10,881 aircraft movements, an increase of 28.0% and 30.2% compared to the same period of 2023. Macau International Airport will continue to develop international routes while actively cooperating with airlines to develop connecting flights and luggage check-through service.
In the fourth quarter of this year, it is planning to organize roadshow events in the Greater Bay Area to promote more routes and related products. In October, Macau International Airport will launch a “Double Anniversary Celebration and Lucky Draw Campaign” to provide discounts and benefits of retails for passengers.
Security checkpoint channel upgrade project in order to continuously enhance the travel experience of passengers, Macau International Airport will begin the preparations for upgrading the security checkpoint channel at the Departure Level and the immigration area in the fourth quarter of 2024. The bidding process is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with construction anticipated to start early of next year. The project will involve redesigning the layout of the areas, optimizing space utilization, and expanding more lanes to reduce queuing time and enhance passenger comfortability.
This will not only improve the overall efficiency of the security channels, but also ensure compliance with current aviation safety standards and requirements. The new security channels will enhance passenger experience as well as improve operational efficiency. It is expected that the overall average processing capacity will be increased to meet the growing passenger demands.
