On Emirati Children’s Day, Sharjah Airport Meets the Children’s Wishes

Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) celebrated Emirati Children’s Day, which is held on March 15th. As part of the ‘Make an Emirati Child’s Wish Come True’ initiative, a group of children had the opportunity to perform job tasks at the airport, review work procedures and interact with customers and passengers, which aims to make their wishes come true and to review the jobs that they are look forward to perform in the future.
SAA celebrated this occasion due to its concern for children in line with the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership and the Authority’s commitment to participating in important community and social events. In addition to support and enhance the Aviation and Airports culture among the children and young people.
The children were given the chance to experience the responsibilities of a pilot, a fireman, a policeman and an aviation engineer; one girl was a hostess and another experienced being an air traffic controller in the control tower. They helped Sharjah Airport users in environments similar to the actual working conditions of Sharjah Airport staff.
HE Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, said, “We organised the ‘Make an Emirati Child’s Wish Come True’ initiative to ensure that children in the UAE benefit from family, health, education, psychological and social care from the moment they are born. With this celebration, we aimed to support the directives, laws and legislation that guarantee children’s rights and to provide a healthy environment in which the UAE’s children can grow with freedom and dignity.”
His Excellency added, “A national occasion, Emirati Children’s Day aims to raise awareness about children’s rights and their importance to society by strengthening public and private sector organisations’ roles in community development and implementing national plans and programs for different members of the community.”
The Emirati Children’s Day initiative was launched by the Mother of the UAE, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, as part of the National Strategy for Motherhood and Childhood 2017-2020. The Day is celebrated on March 15th each year to commemorate the date that Wadeema’s Law was adopted in 2016.
