Perth Airport Appoints Bechtel as Capital Portfolio Partner

  • 2025-02-17

Momentum is building behind Perth Airport’s multi-billion-dollar infrastructure program with the appointment of internationally respected firm Bechtel as the airport’s Capital Portfolio Partner.

Perth Airport CEO Jason Waters said that it was time to build additional capacity to cater for the growing passenger numbers at Perth Airport.

“Work has already commenced on the first of two multi-storey carparks, while site preparation for the new parallel runway will start shortly,” Mr Waters said.

“This will be followed by an expanded international terminal, a new Qantas terminal, a second multi storey car park, and our first airport hotel.

“We will also be providing additional capacity for Qantas in Terminal 3 and 4 to allow them to grow while the other works are completed.

“So, we need to deliver a complex array of projects in a live operational environment.

“It is critical that we deliver these projects because when Perth Airport grows, the Western Australian economy grows.

“We have now engaged the globally recognised engineering, construction, and management firm Bechtel for this critical phase of our preparations.

“The appointment of Bechtel as our Capital Portfolio Partner is another critical step in delivering our plans to change the face of Perth Airport over the coming decade.

“Bechtel will work side-by-side with our team, providing specialist advice and supporting the delivery of our complex infrastructure program.

“The size and scale of our capital pipeline over the next decade means we will continue to partner with expert organisations, fostering innovation and excellence.

“This is an exciting time for Perth Airport and the program of projects will result in the long-held vision for One Airport which will deliver greater efficiency for airlines and a better travel experience for passengers,” said Mr Waters.

President of Bechtel’s Infrastructure business Darren Mort said Bechtel is proud to help shape the next chapter of aviation in Western Australia.

“This significant expansion of Perth Airport will enhance passenger experience, create jobs, strengthen the economy, and benefit local communities. We are delighted to be forming an integrated team with Perth Airport to enable this transformation and build on Bechtel’s rich history in Western Australia.”

Bechtel’s team have worked on successful airport and airport-related infrastructure projects around the world including at London Gatwick, JFK Airport (New York), Dubai International Airport, Hammad International Airport (Doha) and Western Sydney International Airport.
