Velana International Airport Welcomes First Charter Flight from Poland

Velana International Airport (VIA) welcomes the first charter flight from Poland on 20th June 2019.  Blue Panorama Airline came direct from Poland’s capital Warsaw with 271 passengers. The Airline was chartered by the Polish Travel Agent ITAKA and Sun Ocean from the Maldives. Blue Panorama Airline will be operating weekly flights to Maldives with a B767-300ER aircraft.

 

A warm traditional Boduberu with water salute welcomed the Blue Panorama aircraft at VIA and the first charter flight from Poland to Maldives was celebrated with an official function held at Maamehi Lounge.  

A press conference was held on the occasion, joined by the Acting Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) Mr. Moosa Solih, Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC)Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed and Sun Ocean’s Managing Director Mr. Abdulla Rasheed.

 

MD of Sun Ocean said that their hard work had paid off when they were able to bring the first charter from Poland. He thanked MACL for the facilitation and also thanked all the parties which assisted them.

 

The Acting MD of MACL said that he is delighted to have the first passengers from Poland. He also mentioned about the developments at VIA and said that VIA’s Air traffic movements has increased by 5% and Passenger traffic has also increased by 5.8%.

 

MMPRC’s MD said that he is content about the increasing number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives and he plans to promote Maldives more on untapped markets. He also thanked Sun Ocean’s efforts in bringing this new charter flight from Poland.

 

The function was attend by airport stakeholders, crew of Blue Panorama Airline, and senior staff of MMPRC and Sun Ocean along with MACL staff.
