Kannur International Airport is gearing up for a bustling winter season with a myriad of exciting developments. In a testament to its burgeoning significance in the aviation sector, the airport has witnessed a substantial 13% increase in the number of flights compared to the latest summer schedule.
Leading the charge in this impressive surge is Air India Express, which has recorded a phenomenal 37% increase in flight operations. Among the notable highlights, Air India Express is set to commence daily flights to Bangalore, further enhancing connectivity. This addition means that passengers now have access to 28 weekly departures from Kannur Airport to the thriving city of Bangalore.
Air India Express has also expanded its services to multiple international destinations. The airline has increased the frequency of flights to Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Kuwait, Muscat, and Sharjah, solidifying its commitment to connecting Kannur with the world. Notably, Abu Dhabi now witnesses 6 weekly departures, Jeddah with 3 weekly departures, Kuwait with 2 weekly departures, Muscat with 5 weekly departures, and Sharjah with a remarkable 11 weekly departures. In addition to the boost in international flights, there is a substantial 16% overall increase in flights at Kannur Airport.
Kannur Airport is also set to benefit from an impending increase in the induction of aircraft by Indian carriers. This, in turn, is expected to contribute to the airport's growing flight operations as the winter season unfolds.
Beyond the statistical achievements, Kannur Airport is gradually recovering from the challenges posed by the airline industry crisis. The airport's resilience and adaptability are ensuring that it continues to thrive as a crucial hub for domestic and international travel.
