Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), an association representing 624 airports, delivered two important presentations at the ICAO Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for Middle East region in Riyadh, highlighting the critical need for enhancing air connectivity and seamlessly integrating Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) into the current air transportation framework.
On 16 May 2022, Airports Council International World (ACI World), Airports Council International Asia-Pacific (ACI Asia-Pacific) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to conduct research and studies and jointly develop and deliver training programmes for aviation professionals. The training programmes will equip aviation professionals with new knowledge and skills to help them rebuild their respective aviation sectors which have been badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years.
Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) today announced the traffic figures of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) for April 2022. During the month, HKIA handled 126,000 passengers, representing a year-on-year increase of 109.4%, although passenger volume remained significantly lower than the pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Cargo throughput and flight movements recorded 375,000 tonnes and 10,320, respectively, representing decreases of 2.8% and 0.6% compared to the same month in 2021.

Dubai International (DXB) has recorded the busiest quarter since 2020 with 13.6m passengers in Q1 2022, indicating that traffic recovery is gaining momentum at the world’s busiest international hub. This is the second consecutive quarter when passenger traffic at DXB has surpassed the 10-million mark.

The New Zealand Airports Association (NZ Airports) has welcomed today’s announcement by the Prime Minister that the final Covid-related border restrictions will end on 31 July instead of in October. The PM was also “confident” that New Zealand’s requirement for pre-departure testing (PDT) will have ended when the border is fully re-opened in July.
