This week, the global community of airport innovators, start-ups, visionary thinkers, researchers and top tech minds gathers at Rome Fiumicino Airport for AIRPORTS INNOVATE 2024. The conference, organised jointly by ACI EUROPE, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East and ACI World, and hosted by Aeroporti di Roma, will chart the future of air travel, pooling innovative solutions, groundbreaking tools and know-how from across the globe.
Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) announced that the Passenger Security Charge (PSC), collected by airlines on behalf of AAHK from passengers departing from Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), is scheduled to be adjusted from HK$55 to HK$65 effective from 1 January 2025. Subject to passenger traffic growth and prevailing passenger traffic demand at HKIA, the PSC could be increased in phases to HK$75 from 2027 onwards. The PSC was last adjusted in 2021.
The Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) signed a service level memorandum of understanding with the General Command of Sharjah Police, represented by the Sharjah Airport Police Department, aiming to enhance joint cooperation to identify and develop the level of services and facilities provided to passengers through Sharjah Airport.
Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) welcomes the Central Government’s announcement to add eight Mainland cities to the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS). The expansion of the IVS is expected to strengthen air connections between Hong Kong and the eight cities, further boosting air traffic and passenger volume at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) will be the host of Routes World 2025, a prominent annual global aviation event, in September next year. Sharjah Airport revealed that the first quarter of 2024 witnessed the arrival of more than 4.2 million passengers and recorded 26,473 flight movements, and transported more than 42 thousand tons of cargo, thereby enhancing its regional position in providing a distinguished travel experience and improving the quality of services for its customers, reflecting positively in the development of tourism and the economy in the Emirate of Sharjah, and promoting its commercial growth.
The five-day May Day Golden Week is over, Macau International Airport (MIA) recorded a total of 908 flights and 109,592 passengers from 1st – 5th May 2024. The peak day occurred on 1st May 2024, with 201 flights and 26,314 passengers.

Hactl also picked up two coveted Grand Awards.
The Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) announced its participation in the 31st edition of the Arabian Travel Market 2024 (ATM), scheduled to start on May 6th and continue until May 9th at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The Sharjah Airport’s platform at the exhibition will include participation from the Sharjah Airport Travel Agency (SATA) and Air Arabia, under the umbrella of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.
