Mangaluru International Airport observed Fire Service Week at the airport premises on April 16, 2024, with a simulated demonstration on firefighting. The theme of Fire Service Week this year is ‘Ensure Fire Safety: Contribute Towards Nation Building’. In India, the fire and emergency service personnel observe the week every year from April 14-20 to pay tribute to firemen who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty at Mumbai Dockyard on April 14, 1944.
During FY 2023-2024, Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (KIAB / BLR Airport) witnessed the highest-ever annual passenger traffic and cargo numbers, with a total of 37.53 million passengers traversing through its terminals and 439,524 metric tonnes (MT) of cargo passing through the BLR Airport. Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has been named once again the world’s busiest cargo airport for 2023 in terms of total volume, according to the latest data released today by Airports Council International (ACI). The airport handled 4.3 million tonnes of cargo during the year. It is the 13th time since 2010 that HKIA is named the busiest cargo airport in the world.
Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) announced today the launch of a renewable diesel pilot project at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) as part of its unwavering commitment to developing HKIA into the world’s greenest airport. HKIA is the first airport in Asia to use renewable diesel, which can reduce greenhouse gas emission by 87% compared to petroleum diesel, on ground services equipment.
The Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA) and Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) today signed a collaborative agreement to introduce a programme leading to a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree that incorporates commercial pilot training, the first such programme in Hong Kong designed to nurture local civil aviation pilots. In addition to the BBA (Hons) degree, graduates will also receive a commercial pilot licence.
Public consultation will be held this year over potential alternative flight path options for northerly jet departures from Wellington Airport.
