This week, the global community of airport innovators, start-ups, visionary thinkers, researchers and top tech minds gathers at Rome Fiumicino Airport for AIRPORTS INNOVATE 2024. Alstef Group, a global provider of baggage handling solutions, is pleased to announce the award of a contract by AERODOM, a member of the VINCI Airports network and the concessionaire for six airports in the Dominican Republic. The contract involves the complete remodelling and capacity increase of the Baggage Handling System (BHS) at Aeropuerto Internacional de Las Américas in Santo Domingo.
Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has welcomed two new direct routes from the UK, offering four weekly flights from London Stansted starting Sunday 3 March and three weekly flights from Manchester commencing Wednesday 6 March - operated by Royal Jordanian.
Qantas has announced their Wellington – Brisbane service will be upgraded from an E-190 to a larger B738 aircraft from October this year, adding an extra 35,000 seats per year between the two cities.
The Route Development Forum for Asia (Routes Asia 2024) was held from 27th to 29th February 2024 in Malaysia. Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) today held “Airport Career Day 2024” at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). Some 40 recruitment booths were set up by organisations from the airport community offering around 3,000 job vacancies across a wide spectrum including inflight services, aircraft maintenance, airfreight, aviation security and more.

Mangaluru International Airport reiterated its commitment to safety with meaningful observation of 53rd National Safety week on March 4. Observed annually from March 4 to 10, the theme of the Safety Week this year is ‘Focus on Safety Leadership For ESG Excellence’. Unfurling of the National Safety flag, administering safety oath and rewarding staff and stakeholders for their commitment to safety, marked the inaugural function of the week.
