This week, the global community of airport innovators, start-ups, visionary thinkers, researchers and top tech minds gathers at Rome Fiumicino Airport for AIRPORTS INNOVATE 2024. The conference, organised jointly by ACI EUROPE, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East and ACI World, and hosted by Aeroporti di Roma, will chart the future of air travel, pooling innovative solutions, groundbreaking tools and know-how from across the globe.
Auckland Airport’s work to cut carbon emissions has been recognised with a Level 4 Airport Carbon Accreditation from Airports Council International (ACI), putting it among the world’s leading airports in terms of sustainability.
Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) showcased its major developments that are currently underway and planned for its Cargo Centre during the three-day Air Cargo India 2024 in Mumbai, India. Macau International Airport (MIA) had a bustling Chinese New Year (CNY) in 2024. During the holidays from 10th to 14th February 2024, MIA welcomed over 110,000 passengers and handled more than 800 flight movements, both figures recorded a two-fold increase compared with same period during the Lunar New Year of last year (2023).

The Airport Industry Outlook, developed in partnership with Mott MacDonald, reveals the overall seat capacity in H2 2023 is just 3% below the levels recorded in 2019 H2. While the domestic seat capacity in H2 2023 grew by +3% over the same period in 2019 but international is lagging at -14%.
Mangaluru International Airport has received the coveted level three Airport Customer Experience Accreditation from the Airports Council International (ACI). This accreditation recognizes the steadfast commitment of the airport to continuing customer experience improvement. Issued by the ACI on February 2, 2024, the accreditation is valid for one year. The airport had received the level 2 accreditation in December 2022.
Hamad International Airport (DOH) commemorates this year’s Qatar National Sports Day by hosting a variety of engaging fitness related activities across its terminal.
When you grab coffee and a snack at Auckland Airport, you can do so knowing there are positive plans in place to tackle the challenge of waste. Coffee grinds, food scraps and even compostable cups will be put to good use, with the airport expanding its landside* food waste composting scheme at the domestic terminal to now include some parts of the landside food and beverage areas of the international terminal.
