AECOM Partners with ACI for Climate Resilience Study

AECOM has been engaged by Airports Council International – ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East to conduct a comprehensive study on climate approaches for all member airports in the region. This strategic ESG Advisory win aims to enhance the resilience of airports in these regions against the impacts of climate change.

ACI, recognized as the voice of the world’s airports, works with governments, international organizations, and experts to develop standards, policies, and recommended practices for airports globally. 

As airports face increasing disruptions from extreme weather events and climate change, ACI’s member airports in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions have sought guidance and support to improve their resilience.  

As an ACI World Business Partner, AECOM will provide technical and facilitation support to airport members over the next 18 months. This includes developing climate change risk assessment guidance and tools to identify and improve climate maturity and supporting airport-led risk assessments.  

Cindy Varnier, Project Manager, said: “The project has significant potential to uplift capability across airports by delivering practical tools and engaging guidance to help airports recognize, evaluate, and respond to climate-related physical risks. 

Stakeholder engagement is a crucial component of this Climate Adaptation Study. We propose numerous channels for engaging with ACI APAC and Middle East airport members and selected airports, offering tailored support and providing an avenue for airport members to exchange knowledge and insights with one another.”  

The project team combines local project management support from AECOM’s Hong Kong office with climate change technical delivery from team members across Australia and New Zealand.
