  • 2021-12-19

Riyadh Airports Company (RAC), the entity responsible for managing the operations of King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in Riyadh, welcomed a delegation from Airports Council International (ACI) for Asia Pacific. The visit came following RAC becoming a member of ACI Asia-Pacific. It allowed the latter to assess the standards, policies and practices in place across KKIA, with a view to helping improve operational procedures across the terminal. During the visit, the delegation also discussed how to overcome the current challenges facing the civil aviation sector and the means for future collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Led by Stefano Baronci, the Director-General of Airports Council International (ACI) for the Asia Pacific region, the delegation was welcomed by Mohammed Al Maghlouth, CEO of RAC. The delegation was further accompanied by Gary Leung, the manager of Security and Facilitation at ACI and Sulaiman bin Ahmed Al-Bassam, Assistant CEO of Operations at the General Authority for Civil Aviation.

Speaking on the occasion of the visit, Mohammed Al Maghlouth, CEO of Riyadh Airports Company, said, “Riyadh Airports Company is proud to have joined the international list of airports which the ACI oversees. Thanks to our new membership, the ACI will support our development, helping us to ensure that the latest standards, policies and practices are in place and that our staff are equipped with knowledge and experience of international best practices to ensure a seamless passenger experience.”

He went on to add, “This visit is vital to future collaborations and will allow us to collectively address our joint concerns to government and aviation authorities while serving our strategic growth objectives in line with the vision of the General Authority of Civil Aviation.”

The Airports Council International for Asia-Pacific region has previously awarded King Khalid International Airport various awards, such as the Best Hygiene Measures Award in 2020 and the Voice of the Customer Certificate. RAC was subsequently awarded membership of the ACI, becoming part of a global network of airport operators working together to enhance the passenger experience and benefit from best practices in security, operational safety and information technology.
