Concerning the queuing conditions of security area at the departure level during peak travel periods, management has been highly attentive to the situation and initiated relevant work at the beginning of last year to improve conditions. After consulting with relevant advisors and finalizing the engineering design, an optimization plan was formulated. It has been resolved to utilize part of the existing commercial space of duty-free shop to expand the security check and departure area.

Through the optimization of the security area, technological enhancements will be introduced to improve the efficiency of security processing. The upgrade project for the departure security channels and departure areas is scheduled to commence within the year. Upon completion, the area will feature a total of eight smart security screening channels, equipped with functionalities such as automatic sorting of carry-on luggage, automatic tray retrieval, and assisted unpacking workstations. Additionally, millimeter-wave body imaging security scanners will be employed, increasing the passenger security processing capacity by 80%. Concurrently, Macau International Airport will also introduce self-service pre-security check gates utilizing biometric identification technology. This initiative is designed to further enhance security efficiency and refine the security management system, all while adhering to the continually evolving aviation security regulations and measures, thereby improving the overall travel experience for passengers.

CAM Executive Committee and delegation also inspected the operational site of the heliport at Taipa Ferry Terminal, as well as the progress of the low-voltage engineering and equipment installation works, which has been commenced in early December 2024 with an anticipated construction period of six months. Upon completion, CAM will continue to collaborate with relevant government departments to facilitate the application for the operating license, conduct system testing, and preliminary trial operations.

Macau International Airport remains committed to its core values of “Safety, Efficiency and Effectiveness”, dedicated to enhancing operational and service efficiency, thereby creating a more convenient and comfortable travel environment for all passengers.
