Macau International Airport Route Promotion and Roadshow (Jiangmen Station)

On 16th November 2024, Macau International Airport held a route promotion and roadshow in Jiangmen. The main objective of this event was to promote the Southeast Asian and Northeast Asian routes of Macau International Airport (MIA), encouraging more residents from the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to choose Macau as a transit point when travelling to those regions. The event has invited representatives from 21 units, including airlines and travel agencies currently operating in Macau, to collectively participate in the promotion.

 

 

During the event, Mr. Eric Fong, Director of Marketing Department from Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM), provided a comprehensive introduction to the GBA residents about the airlines operating at MIA and the domestic and international routes currently offering. Currently, the passenger volume at Macau International Airport has recovered to 80% of its 2019 level, with international passenger volume has increased by 1.1 times Additionally, Macau International Airport launched the “Double Anniversary and Lucky Draw Campaign” from October to December, which received an enthusiastic responses. It is also expected to attract more travellers during the holiday season in December.

 

Airlines will also gradually increase flights and plan to expand new routes based on market demand. Meanwhile, for the flight schedule of winter season, the airline industry is making adjustments to meet market demand. Starting from November, Air Macau launches a new route between Macau and Taichung, and in December, the airline will increase daily flights to Bangkok. For the market of the Mainland of China, Air Macau will increase flights to Chongqing and Guiyang to five times per week, and the Nanning routes to four times per week. Other Mainland China and Northeast Asian airlines also plan to launch flights to Macau. Furthermore, Macau International Airport provides convenient shuttle bus services. Passengers from the Greater Bay Area can depart from Guangzhou, Jiangmen, Huangpu, Foshan, Gaoming, Zhangmutou, Dongguan, and Zhaoqing to Gongbei Port with about 35 bus services running daily. Passengers can transfer via airport shuttle bus to arrive MIA which offers convenient travel option for the passengers from the GBA.

 

Additionally, the roadshow has set up multiple individual booths where allow airlines and industry partners to showcase and introduce various tourism products in Macau. It also offered interactive activities such as online mini-games, souvenir giveaways and grand prize lucky draw of airline tickets, attracting lots of people to observe and participate. The event provided rich content effectively to enhance the visibility and appeal of Macau International Airport and its Southeast and Northeast Asian routes among GBA residents, encouraging them to choose Macau as a travel transit hub. 

 

In alignment with the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government’s “Belt and Road” initiatives, Macau International Airport continues to strengthen collaborations with airlines in 2025, exploring new opportunities to expand its network of routes and destinations.

 

At the same time, it will focus on promoting international transfer routes with one-ticket-baggage-check services from Macau, aiming to attract more international travellers and improve convenience for local residents. Macau International Airport plans to conduct similar promotional events in 2025 in cities such as Macau, Zhuhai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. The event was organized and coordinated by representatives from the Marketing Department of CAM.
