Opening of the new international departure area - Renovation of KIX Terminal

Kansai Airports is enchanted to announce today’s opening of the new international departure area at Terminal 1 of Kansai International Airport (KIX) as part of the Terminal 1 renovation.

To celebrate the opening, a tape-cutting ceremony was held with the stakeholders of KIX, including Yoshiyuki Yamaya, Representative Director and CEO of Kansai Airports, and Benoit Rulleau, Representative Director and Co-CEO.

Passengers can go through the passport control process more smoothly with the opening of this new area with the centralized immigration, which used to be located on the north and south of the terminal. The new area has a walk-through duty-free shop, the central Plaza Area, and four Mood Areas with 27 stores (food & beverage: 9, retail: 7, duty-free: 1, boutique: 9, service:1). The Mood Areas offer customers four different atmosphere, and customers can choose where to go next based on their mood.

Kansai Airports Group will keep collaborating with its stakeholders to strengthen the functions of KIX as a gateway to Kansai for domestic and international passengers and to continue ahead with the renovation with safety and security as the top priorities.
