Shanghai Airports Saw over 340,000 Passengers on the Peak Day of the National Day Holiday

The Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day brought an eight-day holiday to China from September 29 to Oct. 6, 2023. Statistics show that the highest daily traffic of 342,000 passengers at two international airports in Shanghai was saw on Oct. 5, 2023. 

 

During the National Day holiday, the total inbound and outbound passenger traffic at Shanghai Pudong Intenational Airport and Hongqiao International Airport reached 2,584,000 persons, of which Pudong International Airport handled 1,581,000 and Hongqiao International Airport 1,003,000. The passenger traffic at Shanghai Airports has come back to 100% of the same period in 2019.

 

Among them, the domestic traffic, accounting for a total of 2,040,000 persons, has been 117% of the same period in 2019 while the international traffic of 544,000 back to 65% of the same period in 2019. In these eight days, Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport accommodated 17,000 flights in total, with a daily average of 2,152 flights, rebounding to 105% of the same period in 2019.

During the holiday period, Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport initialized diversified and quality passenger services to ensure a safe, efficient and convenient travel. Decorations of celebrating the holiday were setup in terminals of the two airports while small Chinese national flags, mid-autumn lanterns, and blessing stickers were distributed at information desks, security checking channels, taxi stations, and etc to create a strong holiday atmosphere. Special passenger services are available to fist-time flyer, family passengers, and elderly-aged passengers. A series of commercial promotions were provided to passengers, displaying a rich and exciting commercial shopping experience at Shanghai airports.

 

As the holiday season draws to a close, both Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport took various initiatives to ensure arriving passengers leave the airport by ground transports conveniently and efficiently when the return peak came on October 5th and 6th.
