Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), an association representing 624 airports, delivered two important presentations at the ICAO Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for Middle East region in Riyadh, highlighting the critical need for enhancing air connectivity and seamlessly integrating Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) into the current air transportation framework.
The Conference aims to promote and enhance cyber security awareness; support international co-operation; and provide a platform to discuss challenges, opportunities and solutions in aviation security.
The committee focused particularly on various emerging aviation security threats, including the rising number of drone attacks against civil aviation. The committee discussed the pros and cons of different anti-drone technologies and exchanged insights on their emergency response procedures for drone attacks.
Aimed to raise awareness and facilitate regional cooperation on enhancing air travel accessibility for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility, the workshop was attended physically and virtually by over 30 representatives from ASEAN Member States and industry associations, including ACI Asia-Pacific and IATA.
