Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), an association representing 624 airports, delivered two important presentations at the ICAO Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for Middle East region in Riyadh, highlighting the critical need for enhancing air connectivity and seamlessly integrating Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) into the current air transportation framework.
Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) was recently acknowledged by Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific as one of only 12 airports in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East to receive the Green Airports Recognition 2022 for airports serving 5 to 15 million passengers. QAIA was granted Gold recognition for its dedicated efforts in transitioning towards a sustainable, low-carbon future, focusing on its achievements in heating and cooling system improvements.
ACI Asia-Pacific has announced the winner of the association’s signature Human Resources programme, the Young Executive Award 2022. Mr. Rekibuddin Ahmed, Manager – Environment, of Delhi International Airport Limited, India was selected the winner. The panel of judges also awarded Honourable Mention to Ms. Emily Chan, Assistant Manager of Standards and Delivery, of Airport Authority Hong Kong.
ACI Asia-Pacific has announced the results of the Green Airports Recognition 2022, recognizing twelve airports in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East for their outstanding achievements in carbon management. Participating airports (adjudicated according to the size of the airport) all demonstrated exceptional best practices in their respective decarbonization journeys, specifically in Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emission reductions.
To meet Hamad International Airport's (HIA) commitment to environmental preservation and its objective of achieving zero landfill, the airport is recycling organic compost from green waste generated during landscaping activities.
