Ms. Kristy Tan and Ms. Dana Ismaeel appointed Chair and Vice Chair of ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Environment Committee

Ms. Kristy Tan, Senior Manager, Climate Resilience of Airport Authority Hong Kong and Vice-chair, Ms. Dana Ismaeel, Acting Head - Environment and Sustainability of Bahrain Airport Company, have been appointed as Chair and Vice Chair of the ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Environment Committee (REC), respectively.

 

They will be leading the Committee for two years in 2025-2026.

 

Ms. Kristy Tan, Senior Manager, Climate Resilience of Airport Authority Hong Kong 

Ms. Kristy is an experienced and passionate sustainability practitioner with expertise across the public and private sectors in Hong Kong and Australia. She has led sustainability teams both in house and as a consultant, and specializes in environmental strategies, carbon management, and climate resilience, primarily focusing on large and complex operating environments.

 

Currently serving as Senior Manager for Climate Resilience at the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), Ms. Kristy leads the Climate Change Programme. This includes managing AAHK’s climate adaptation and resilience approach, and carbon reduction initiatives, including HKIA’s 2050 Net Zero Carbon Pledge (in collaboration with  30 aviation-related business partners) and a 55% emissions reduction goal by 2035. She also leads AAHK’s sustainability reporting and ESG ratings processes.

 

Since 2021, Ms. Kristy has been the ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East representative for the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Taskforce. She has contributed to the development of ACA Levels 4/4+/5 and supported global airports in setting sustainability standards. Additionally, Kristy leads the Asia-Pacific & Middle East Climate Adaptation Working Group.

 

Ms. Kristy said, "I am deeply honored to have been elected as the Chair of the REC for 2025-2026. I look forward to building on the outstanding work of my predecessors, focusing on increasing participation in the committee's core areas and supporting smaller airports across the region. Together, we will raise awareness of sustainability trends, address challenges collaboratively, and develop innovative solutions that benefit our region and the global aviation community."

 

Vice-chair, Ms. Dana Ismaeel, Acting Head - Environment and Sustainability of Bahrain Airport Company

Ms. Dana leads the environmental and sustainability efforts at Bahrain International Airport (BIA), operated by Bahrain Airport Company (BAC). Since 2017, Ms. Dana has played a pivotal role in enhancing BIA’s environmental performance. She previously worked as an Environmental Specialist at the Supreme Council for Environment, Bahrain's regulatory authority

 

At BAC, Ms. Dana oversaw the $1.1 billion LEED Gold certification project for BIA’s new terminal and authored the airport’s first Environmental Management Guideline. She established BIA’s decarbonization, waste diversion, and pollution prevention strategies and is currently developing BAC’s ESG framework.
Ms. Dana represents BAC in the ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Environment Committee and founded BIA’s Environment Committee, driving stakeholder collaboration for Net Zero goals. Her leadership earned BAC recognitions and accreditations such as ACI Green Airports Recognition and Airport Carbon Accreditation.

 

Ms. Dana Ismaeel stated, "It is a great honor to be elected as the Vice Chair of the REC for 2025-2026. I am committed to supporting the committee's mission by fostering collaboration and innovation to drive sustainability across airports in our region. I look forward to working closely with Ms. Kristy and our members to advocate for the interests of ACI members, support their sustainability goals, and foster awareness of technologies that propel the global aviation sector toward a more sustainable future.
