Sharjah Airport Supports Rationalization Hour Initiative

  • 18 Jun 2019

Sharjah Airport participated in supporting the Rationalization Hour Initiative launched by the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) under the directives of HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, declared to be on July 1st of each year from 2:30 until 3:30 pm.

The airport participation was represented with sketches of cartoon characters painted across departures and arrivals, and distribution of manuals to encourage the support for the initiative and to adopt behaviors and practices that contribute to reducing the waste of energy consumption and maintain the sustainability of environmental safety.

This participation was part of Sharjah Airport’s emphasis on its policy of supporting environmental and community activities and events, which has made it an active contributor in the region against the impact of aviation on the environment and the increased carbon emissions, thus becoming the first airport in the United Arab Emirates and the third airport in the Middle East to receive the Airport Carbon Accreditation by Airports Council International (ACI).
